Like Hunter Boulevard S, Mount Rainier Drive S, Mount St. Helens Place S, Mount Adams Place S, and S Mount Baker Boulevard, this street was created in 1907 as part of the Hunter Tract Improvement Company’s Mt. Baker Park addition, named for its view of Mount Baker in the North Cascades. Unlike the others, this one was named after the entire Cascade Range, itself named for the no longer extant Cascades Rapids on the Columbia River, submerged by the construction of the Bonneville Dam in the 1930s.

Cascadia Avenue S begins at the intersection of Mount Baker Drive S and Mount Claire Drive S and goes 1⅖ of a mile southeast, then south, to S Conover Way.
